Powfoot Golf Club
Founded in 1903, Powfoot Golf Club is a private members club with a warm welcome for visitors.
Although covering less than 100 acres, this links course on the Solway shore has established itself as a formidable Championship challenge and, among other major competitions, has recently hosted the Senior Ladies British Open.
Ablaze with whin in spring and early summer, its views towards Criffel and the English Lakes offer a delightful setting for golf; those same whins - in combination with a changeable wind - create a demanding golfers' paradise, or, as the Daily Telegraph described it, simply the "Jewel of the Solway"!
