33 walkers enjoyed a fine Autumn day in the Ullswater Valley on the eastern edge of the English Lakes. The journey down the side of Ullswater to our starting point at Patterdale was probably typical of the popularity of the Lake District with a cycle race in progress and groups of "mods and rockers" in evidence, or at least people on motor bikes and scooters!
The tranquility of the walk to Brothers Water is captured in the relaxed demeanour of the group in the photo. Our return took us through the quaint hamlet of Hartsop, originally a mining community with some houses still retaining their old spinning galleries, external staircases and other interesting features. A very enjoyable 4.5 hour walk.
