24 Members started from Ae Forestry Commission car park. The weather was a little misty but dry, though recent rain had left a lot of lying water in some places. The walk set off along the east side of the river Ae (which flows into the Kinnel Water and thence the Annan).
The walk mostly on forest roads, climbed gently through a mixture of deciduous and evergreen trees with some nice Autumn colours developing. Returning on the west side of the river, we passed a display of old forest machinery, some very hefty pieces of equipment from the 60’s and a chain saw sculpture of a red squirrel. Members of the group refreshed themselves with tea, coffee etc. from the new bike café before setting off homeward.
