The weather forecast was for gales, rain and snow but 33 walkers met at Shawhead for a 5 mile walk around the Glenkiln Sculptures.
In spite of the forecast the weather was fine and at Glenkiln Bridge the group followed the road to the Rodin's John the Babtist (pictured above). At the head of Glenkiln Reservoir they viewed Henry Moore's Standing Figure before ascending Margreig Hill to the Glenkiln Cross. Moore's King and Queen was on the path down to Epstein's representation of the Virgin Mary the Visitation, here the group stopped for a picnic lunch. At this point the wind increased and the forecasted hail shower materialised.
Undaunted the walkers proceeded to the Reclining Figure sculpture before returning to Shawhead completeing an interesting and informative outing.
