Annan Walking Group walking Mabie Forest

Mabie Forest - The group struck lucky with a clear spell in the weather for their walk at Mabie Forest. It was dry for the greater part of the walk along the Lochaber trail which passes Dalshinnie and Lochaber Lochs.

Good visibility allowed views of the Nith, the Solway and Criffel from the vantage points gained with with a little climbing up out of the glens. As a gentle warm-up before this 'moderate' trail, the group strolled along the all-abilities route to view the specimen trees, interpretive displays and 'added attractions' like wood sculptures. Not that the main trail was devoid of these - one discovery was a newly-installed marble statue we came upon unexpectedly among the trees.
