The Annan Merse
The Annan Merse is grassland
and sand flats, which are
covered by the sea during
high tides and are drained by
a network of creeks.
The area is designated as a SSSI (Site of special Scientific Interest).
The merse or saltings provide roosting and feeding for a wide range of wading birds and grazing for livestock.
