Thirty-two members of the Annan Walking Group assembled at the 'Washing Green' on the outskirts of Sanquhar for the walk.
The weather was dry and mainly sunny although accompanied by a chilly headwind on the outward leg. Some of the going was across rough grassland with muddy/boggy sections at times. Once in sheltered areas the going became easier and when the 'light lunch' stop was reached at Glenmaddie bridge, the wind had dropped and the sun made it a very pleasant stop, helped by the location.
On the return, mainly via tarmac road, it was obvious spring had arrived as at least three frogs and some frogspawn was seen by the side of the road. In the area of 'Old Barr' the party took the scenic route along 'Euchan Water' before finally ending up at The Crown in Sanquhar for soup, sandwiches, tea and tablet rounding off, to everybody's agreement, a most enjoyable walk ably led by Hughie McVie.
