  • BRITAIN FROM ABOVE - BORDERS
    An introduction to aerial photographs of the Solway Firth.
    BRITAIN FROM ABOVEMonday 21st July 2014, 2pm @ The Golf Hotel, Links Avenue, Powfoot, Annan
    Community Groups and individuals are invited to work with artists on creative responses to historic aerial photographs of communities around the Solway Firth as part of a new project that launches this month.
    Talk by Brian Wilkinson, Britain from Above Activity Officer, on the fascinating collection of local historic aerial photographs, taken by pioneering company Aerofilms between 1919 - 1953.
    Cathy Newbery, arts coordinator, will talk about the “Borders” project for Britain from Above with a geographic focus on the Solway Firth, aiming to link rural communities on the coast and the immediate hinterland in Cumbria and in Dumfries and Galloway.
    A number of workshops throughout July- August will follow on both sides of the Solway, where artists will work with participants to captured responses to Aerofilms images.
