The Solway Burns Club
Open to both men and women, the Solway Burns Club, founded in
1921, is registered member no. 589 of the Burns Federation.
It attracts members from Annan and district, the membership being
currently about ninety. The Club's objectives are to provide fellowship
and to foster an appreciation of Scottish literature, music and
art.
Each year the Club organises five functions; these include a St
Andrews Day celebration and a traditional Burns Supper.

The Club erected the cairn in 1996 to commemorate the time which Exciseman Burns spent at Waterfoot waiting for a cargo of Rum from Antigua. He described Waterfoot as "this wild place of the world".
