celebrated its 200th Anniversary - marked with visits by HRH The
Princess Royal and a return to his old school by Deputy First Minister
and Justice Minister for Scotland, Jim Wallace.
The school was formed on its present site in the 1920s when the
old fee-paying Annan Academy merged with the Public School at Greenknowe. The school caters for more than 1100 pupils from within a 9 mile
radius extending from Gretna to Clarencefield via Kirkpatrick Fleming,
Eaglesfield and Carrutherstown.
Fully comprehensive, it offers an extensive curricular choice
and an exceptionally wide range of extra-curricular activities
as well.
The Academy has a strong history of sporting achievement at National
level both in team and individual competition.
One of the school's earliest "Old Boys" was the great Scottish
writer Thomas Carlyle, the Sage of Chelsea.
