The Annandale and Eskdale Painting Challenge is organised by Annan Initiative who will henceforth be referred to as the organisers

"THE ARTISTS" »

Anyone may enter the competition, which is open to professional artists, students, amateurs, enthusiasts and beginners, who will henceforth be referred to as the artists.

Artists are advised that the organisers cannot be held responsible for the safety of participants competing in the Annandale and Eskdale Painting Challenge.

The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry at their sole discretion.

Artists must agree to abide by the rules displayed here.

Painting Challenge Rules

  1. All paintings entered must be created in Annandale and Eskdale on Saturday 23 June 2007. Maps will be available to indicate geographical boundaries.
  2. Artists must register to enter at Clip ICT, 40 High Street, Annan between 8am and 5pm or Langholm Town Hall between 9 and 10am on Saturday 23 June 2007.
  3. At registration the artist must have the paper, board or canvas on which they intend to submit an entry officially stamped.
  4. The entry fee is £3.00, additional sheets may be stamped at registration at a further cost of £2.00 each. Only one entry can be accepted per artist.
  5. Completed works must have a minimum image size of A4 and a maximum image size of A3. All entries must be mounted on self-coloured board. No frames are allowed.
  6. Artists must hand in their completed entries at Clip ICT, 40 High Street, Annan between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 23 June 2007.
  7. Entries will be accepted in any medium provided that they are in a suitable condition to hang when handed in.
  8. Artists must grant the organisers the right to reproduce their entry for publicity and other purposes.
  9. Artists must remove their paintings from Annan Museum, Bank Street, Annan after 30 July 2007 by arrangement with the curator (01461) 201384.
