Annan Initiative was set up in 1997 to develop and manage a phased programme of action in partnership with appropriate local and national bodies and agencies designed to regenerate and revitalise the economic, cultural and social life of the town of Annan and its immediate vicinity.

Projects are devised through a number of small committees of interested volunteers.

The group represents a wide variety of local interests and aims, by encouraging greater community participation to:

  • Improve the general environment
  • Stimulate economic growth
  • Provide information on local activities and places of interest
  • Promote awareness of Annan's history
  • Encourage the preservation of our heritage
  • Celebrate annual festivities
  • Seek funding from public and commercial sources.
